Air ambulance to the rescue

A JUNIOR football cup final had to be abandoned at Warrington Town’s Cantilever Park today as an air ambulance was flown in after a youngster suffered a serious broken leg.
The North West air ambulance landed on the pitch as medics spent more than an hour attempting to make the 17-year-old boy comfortable while awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.
The youngster who plays for Crsofields suffered the injury during the cup final against Lymm just 15 minutes into the game which was goaless.
The match was abandoned and the youngster was eventually taken to hospital by ambulance.
Paul Dawson, Chairman of the Warrington Junior League said: “It was just a pure accident, There was nothing malicious in the tackle.
“We had no choice but to abandon the game but will hopefully be able to reschedule it at a future date. But the most important thing was the safety of the young player who was clearly in a lot of pain.”
The air ambulance was flown n from Blackpool as no local ambulances were available.
