A MEN versus food challenge will be part of the Great Britain Food Festival at Walton Hall later this month.
Top billing at the event, held on Sunday May 26 and Bank Holiday Monday May 27, goes to Dave Mooney, Chef Patron of the New Moon Pub Company.
He will be sharing the main demo stage with top local chefs Jake Prowse, head chef at Bistro 1847, Brian Spark, the executive head chef from Crewe Hall, and Cake International Gold Medal winner Molly Robbins.
Event Organiser, Daniel Maycock, said: “It’s a great mix of demos, from cake makers to gourmet food – we didn’t just want some headline name who has nothing to do with our region, we wanted to show the best of the talent we have in this area, come along I’m sure they’ll impress you!
This year the event also has ‘The Onionring Artisan talk tent’, where you will find talks and demos from the like of top pig breeder Julian from Pig & Co, Levante Fine Foods, local premium spirit company GJ Greenall, ‘Drinks Enthusiast’ and a cocktails master class from top Manchester restaurant, Rosso.
Throughout the day there will be the Great British Cake Off, cake competition with members of the public entering the Chocolate Delicious, Victoria Sponge or Great British Novelty categories. With an X Factor style judging, fifty percent public, fifty percent expert judges.
“Got an appetite?! Then the Men Vs Food Challenge is for you, this year challengers will be taking on a ‘yard of sausage’, pint of cider and ‘a few surprises,” says Daniel, “We’ll throw in a few things to keep the contestants on their toes! It’s the quickest man wins, and the crowd acclaim and a t-shirt is the victors!”
