Free stalls at Warrington Market

WARRINGTON Market is offering a free stall to local entrepreneurs and start-up businesses as part of a national campaign.
“Love Your Local Market” runs from May 15-29, and aims to attract new market traders and highlight the importance that markets play in the local community.
Market manager Steve Pickering spokes in the House of Commons last week about the campaign, and was joined by Nathan Duckworth, one of the town’s success stories.
Nathan, a father at the age of 14, left school at 16 to obtain work and pursue his passion food, and his first job was working as an apprentice under one of the UK’s finest chef’s, Aiden Byrne. He moved on to work for a small family catering firm, gaining several qualifications and then decided to go it alone.
In January, aged 19, he set-up a hot food takeaway business in Warrington Market.
Nathan said: “With the support of the market management team I was able to secure a loan from the government sponsored ‘start-up loans’ scheme. This enabled me to buy vital equipment and fit out my stall to a high standard which is essential in the food business.”
“I’ve made it happen. The response to my stall and the food has been amazing too. Customers seem to really like what I’m doing, so I’m very happy.”
For more information and if you’re interested in having a stall for the two week period please contact Steve Pickering, market manager, on 01925 632571.
