TWO Orford youngsters have inspired the launch of a clear-up operation at the Orford Park pond.
Conner Forshaw and Christopher Hankey raised concerns to LiveWire and local councillors of the poor condition of the pond and the affects it was having on the wildlife and general public using the area.
Both boys were invited down to the pond by LiveWire and local ward Councillors Mike and Kate Hannon, to share their thoughts and discuss how the area can be improved. Alan Nugent Orford’s new Park Keeper and Tom Mather the new park warden joined the group to help plan and organise the clean-up.
Ivan Baracskai, LiveWire’s Area Leisure Manager, said: “Both Connor and Christopher showed real concern about the condition of the pond area. I’m very impressed with how much they care about their environment, there a credit to their community.”
Following the visit, and having listened to Connor and Christopher, Livewire have committed to clean the pond, mend fencing and improving the area for all park users.
As a thank you for their hard work and dedication to their local environment, Connor, Christopher and their families were invited to a training session by the Warrington Wolves, where they got to meet all their sporting heroes.
