IT’S been a successful winter season for tennis players at Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex.
Katie Land and Daniel Urey, part of LiveWire’s Aspire Talent Development Programme, both made it through to the quarter-finals of the National Indoor Finals at Nottingham Tennis Centre in the Under 10s age group.
Tom Owen was the beaten finalist in the North of England Under 12 finals in Preston, and Rhonna Cook finished third in the girls competition.
James Birdsey, Area Leisure Manager, said: “LiveWire’s Aspire Programme is only in its second year at Birchwood, but these superb results have generated a real optimism of what can be achieved going into the summer season. We have an excellent coaching team to match the facilities here, and are really keen to get more people playing the game as well as performing to this high standard.”
