THE new Beamont Collegiate Academy has been launched, replacing the old William Beamont High School on Long Lane.
Guests, including local primary school head teachers, were given a tour of the new facilities at the academy, which is part of a large campus that includes Warrington Collegiate, the academy and the sports and education facilities of Orford Jubilee Park.
Maggie Williams, Principal of Beamont Collegiate Academy, said: “Today we celebrate a new chapter in the history of our school. Our new name, Beamont Collegiate Academy recognises the importance our sponsor, Warrington Collegiate Education Trust and the many educational opportunities this creates for our pupils and parents.
“Our new status will give us greater autonomy and resources to support our vision of providing both an outstanding education and excellent progression routes to employment and Further and Higher Education for our pupils.”
Ms Williams will retire from her role at the end of the current school year, and will be replaced by Andrew Moorcroft, who was previously Vice Principal at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn.
Paul Hafren, Principal of Warrington Collegiate, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for both Beamont Collegiate Academy and Warrington Collegiate as we move forward together to create an Academy known for its excellent teaching and pupil achievement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been so enthusiastic in their support for this new venture, in particular the school and college governors and staff, the parents as well as our many community partners.
“Most importantly I’d like to praise the energy, enthusiasm and creative ideas of our young people who have been involved in every stage of this amazing journey.”
