WARRINGTON’S flagship shopping centre has been nominated for three top industry awards.
Golden Square Shopping Centre stood out among scores of shopping centres across the UK to be short-listed for Best Community Campaign, Best use of Digital Marketing Award and Best Event in the Purple Apple Marketing Awards.
The shopping centre’s year-long community campaign, “Get Creative” was launched in response to nationwide cuts, which have hit arts funding for North West schools and voluntary groups.
The aim of the campaign was to inspire young people to get involved in creative activities such as singing, dancing and crafts.
It encouraged families across the Warrington area to sign a pledge to dedicate an extra hour a week to creative activities.
Golden Square general manager Ian Cox said: “I’m really proud that we’ve been short-listed for such a variety of awards.
“It shows our dedication to providing an interesting and diverse shopping experience, from our community campaigns to fantastic events like ‘Summer Camp’, right through our online presence.”
Golden Square’s digital campaign has seen the creation of a new fashion website, stylish e-newsletters, a mobile site and an enormous boost in social media engagement, with a 66 per cent increase in Facebook likes and a 317 per cent increase in Twitter followers.
The BCSC (British Consortium of Shopping Centres) Purple Apple Marketing Awards are the only awards, which recognise and reward effective shopping centre marketing within the UK shopping centre sector.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 9.
Golden Square recently won Best Client at the North West PR and marketing Golden Hedgehog Awards.
