Praise for HS2 campaigners

RESIDENTS and community leaders who set up action groups to fight against the Government’s HS2 rail proposals have won praise from local councillors.
Leader of Warrington Borough Council Terry O’Neill and Culcheth councillor Chris Vobe have both commended residents for showing “community leadership.”
The borough council has agreed to work with neighbouring authorities to do all it can to put forward alternative proposals that would be more cost effective.
The current plans would see the new high speed railway cut through the centre of Culcheth and Hollins Green.
Cllr Vobe, at a recent council meeting, said the proposals would generate “disruption without reward” for residents of Culcheth.
He said many people had shown real community leadership on the issue – most notably Cllr Bill Brinksman from Rixton, Cllr Matt Smith from Culcheth and the Culcheth and District Rail Action Group.
Cllr O’Neill said the borough council would work closely with neighbours to lobby the Coalition Government to make amendments which would protect communities like Culcheth and Hollins Green.
He thanked residents for the work they had done to rally their community and said he totally agreed that the work of the action group showed community leadership.

  1. Talk is cheap. Both these politicians support HS2 and both have their eye on the forthcoming elections.

If any politician supports HS2 don’t vote for them.
