PUPILS from a Warrington School had the recipe for success in a special challenge aimed at increasing uptake in school dinners!
Warrington council challenged local schools to increase their uptake of school meals via an innovative competition in partnership with Warrington Wolves Foundation called ‘Wolf it up’.
On average throughout the challenge the uptake of school dinners across the town increased by 7%. However one school stood out from the crowd, Locking Stumps Primary, who increased their uptake by a whopping 25%!
Warrington Wolves winger Chris Riley was on hand to present pupils at the winning school with their prizes, including a signed ‘wolf it up apron’.
He also joined the children for some coaching sessions and met members of the schools catering team.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, executive board member for children and young people’s services, said: “We set schools this task to raise awareness of the healthy, nutritional meals offered by our catering service and we were delighted the Wolves supported us with it. Congratulations to Locking Stumps children who really embraced the challenge and have been wolfing their meals down!”
