ABOUT 30 firefighters have been fighting a serious barn fire near Warrington overnight.
The blaze was in Hollins Lane, Winwick and fire crews from Warrington, Stockton Heath, Birchwood, Widnes and Congleton have been involved in the operation.
Part of the barn collapsed and crews used two main jets to cool pallets and farm equipment to prevent the flames from spreading.
Special sheeting was used to protect local watercourses from pollution.
Crews are now damping down to ensure the blaze does not flare up again.
Firefighters also extinguished a skip fire on the drive of a house in Kinsale Drive, Locking Stumps and also dealt with a wheelie bin fire in Grafton Street, Warrington.
