STUDENTS from a Warrington college need to raise £6,000 for a trip to an international robotics competition in the USA.
The team from Barrow Hall College, Great Sankey, are asking people to sponsor £1 for a mile – as it is a 6,000 mile journey.
Louise Stubbs, assistant head teacher, said: “Our pupils need support from local people and businesses.
“They won the Vex robotics, national championship, in London at the Big Bang Fair, for the second year running.”

The team won the same competition last year but were unable to go because of lack of funding. In the competition this year the students had to build a robot which they named “Leonard.” It is a fully autonomous and controllable machine.
Ms Stubbs said: “With only a few weeks before the competition they need to raise funds for travel and accommodation quickly. If they can get lots of small contributions from local businesses to support this fantastic opportunity it will make their dream come true.”
Anyone able to donate should contact Louise Stubbs on [email protected] or on 01925 724118.
