CHESHIRE’S Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer officially opened a new police station in Warrington which will become a hub for the community.
Penketh Police Station is owned by Warrington Borough Council and is also home to charity the Shannon Bradshaw Trust. The new building is set to become a community hub.
Mr Dwyer said: “I think sharing buildings in this way is fantastic. It’s cost effective, helps us to make savings, and gives the public a fit for purpose station with a police helpdesk and private interview room.”
He said the move was made because the Neighbourhood Policing Team had grown and better facilities were needed to serve the public. He said the previous base, Great Sankey Police Station, was no longer big enough.
“It’s a great idea to share facilities like this in the community hub, as it makes them more accessible to the public,” he added.
