TWO thugs – one brandishing a knife – were put to flight at Warrington by a shopkeeper who stood his ground and refused to hand over cash.
Police today appealed for information following the attempted robbery at Sankey Bridges Convenience Store in Liverpool Road.
The incident took place at about 3.45pm on Friday, February 8 when the pair entered the shop and demanded that the shopkeeper open the till.
The shopkeeper stood his ground and refused and the men fled empty-handed in the direction of the town centre.
No-one was injured in the incident.
One man was in his late teens, of medium build with short dark hair and was wearing a white and navy/black tracksuit top with dark coloured tracksuit bottoms.
He spoke with a Warrington accent and had a distinctive dark patch under his right eye.
The second man was of medium build, wearing a black tracksuit top with the hood up and had a dark coloured scarf covering his face. He also spoke with a Warrington accent.
Police have issued an e-fit picture of one of the offenders (right)
