A LOCAL gym that raised £1,400 for Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) received an award from the charity for its support.
Latchford fitness centre Gym and Tonic received a WDP Appreciation of Effort Award, for raising the money in the Tough Mudder challenge event.
WDP communications officer Val Caldwell said: “The team of five put in a tremendous amount of effort on an extremely cold day and deserve the recognition for their fundraising, teamwork and community spirit.”
Paul Storah, of the gym, said: ”Achieving our target for the charity and knowing that the funds raised will increase awareness of sporting opportunities for disabled people in our community make all the training, effort and bruises worthwhile.”
The money raised will go towards the purchase of a specially adapted sports wheelchair for basketball.
For information on wheelchair basketball and inclusive sports sessions for schools please contact Rachel Hanlon at WDP on 01925 240064
