Pioneering adoption service

A PIONEERING adoption service, which includes Warrington, will be showcased at the UK Baby and Toddler Show being held in Liverpool on February 2 and 3.
WWiSH Adoption Service, a shared service of Wigan, Warrington and St.Helens local authorities, will promote the service at the show at the Echo Arena.
The aim is to reach those living, visiting or working within or just beyond the boundaries of the three boroughs. Applicants from peripheral areas can often be approved by WWiSH.
The service is available to those with no children, or who already have a family and could welcome another child.
Adoption manager Ruth Fitzgerald said: “Across the North West, there are a number of children awaiting adoption, and contrary to popular belief, 40 per cent of these are under two years old.
“We aim to approve applications within six months and are always striving to minimise this, where it is safe and appropriate to do so. However, this is already a much shorter period of time than most people assume. Choosing to adopt is an incredibly rewarding, life changing decision, one that we hope attendees at the show may consider.”
