WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones is calling on Warrington Borough Council to grant permission for signs to be erected at the entrance to three cemeteries in her constituency to acknowledge the fact that they contain war graves.
The signs would be erected by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) who will be contacting the council to request permission to proceed. The cemeteries are Burtonwood Cemetery, Hollinfare Cemetery and Warrington Cemetery.
Ms Jones said: “The regional supervisor for the CWGC will be contacting the borough council to ask for permission to erect a sign at the entrance to Burtonwood, Hollinfare and Warrington cemeteries.
“The CWGC have asked if I will support their request. I am very happy to do so and have written to interim chief executive Steven Broomhead urging the council to agree. I cannot foresee any problems and hope the signs can be erected in the near future.”
