Referees award cup for outstanding services

WARRINGTON Rugby League Referees’ Society chose Graeme Chicken as this year’s winner of the Joe Manley Rugby League Cup for outstanding services to the society.
He was presented with the cup by outgoing chairman Nick Woodward, after stepping in as interim-secretary while the society’s regular secretary was unavailable.
Graeme’s impressive commitment to the society meant that the society could run with minimal disruption despite the absence of a valued committee member.
His ability was so good that he was elected to be vice-chairman permanently at October’s annual general meeting.
Nick said: “I am very proud to present this award to Graeme. Without his efforts over the past 12 months the overall running of the society would have come to a stop. He was on hand to provide support and assistance for all of our members, as well as perform vital administrative duties when necessary.”
The society has launched a new website www.warringtonrlrs.webs.com
which offers details on how to become a referee.
