Community radio station back on FM

WARRINGTON’S community radio station Radio Warrington will be broadcasting on FM again from midnight tomorrow (Sunday) following a successful nine day FM broadcast during the summer.
Run by a team of dedicated unpaid volunteers the station, which broadcasts online throughout the year will be back on 87.8fm until December 9.
The station has been granted a second Restricted Short-term License (RSL) from Ofcom and will broadcast from studios inside Warrington Market and Cinnamon Brow Farm Community Centre.
Radio Warrington is now the only radio station broadcasting from Warrington for the people of Warrington.
Station manager Steve Lewis said: “We have been working around the clock building a new studio in the market.
“We received lots of positive feedback from our last FM broadcast in July. Community radio is very speech-based and we were able to talk to and include over 80 local groups and charities as well as the general public and we carried out several outside broadcasts including Warrington Music Festival, Warrington Market’s Classic Transport Show and Disability Awareness Day. Although we are available all year round on the internet, being on FM makes us so much more available to the community that we wish to serve. The radio signal is restricted to a 5km radius but that is enough for us to reach most of Warrington.”
This RSL broadcast is being funded by Warrington Borough Council as part of the “It’s All Going On In Warrington” campaign.
Radio Warrington would like to make it known they they at the disposal of anyone who would like them to promote their community events or services.
They will be covering various events, including Warrington Town FC matches for those who can’t make the games.
warrington-worldwide Edior Gary Skentelbery will be broadcasting classic rock shows each Saturday morning form 8am-10am.
