A new family run hotel with the potential to contribute more than £3 million a year to the local economy as a key destination for business travellers has been officially opened at Gullivers’ theme park, Warrington.
The Gulliver’s Hotel was officially opened to business guests by Professor Steven Broomhead, Warrington Borough Council’s interim Chief Executive, who was joined by the town’s Mayor Cllr Steve Wright.
Invited guests were given the chance to explore the hotel’s corporate facilities and sample its hospitality.
Professor Broomhead said: “It was a brave and confident decision to invest £3.75 million into the 56-room hotel and Warrington – and it is confident decisions that will drive our economy. Congratulations to Gulliver’s.”
The Mayor added: “The hotel is great for the local economy and with the Omega project kicking off, businesses and developers will be looking for somewhere to stay. It’s great for access to the motorway and in a quiet, almost rural Cheshire, location.”
Julie Dalton, Managing Director of Gulliver’s Theme Parks, said: “We’re very excited to be showcasing Gulliver’s Hotel to the business community. The discerning business traveller will be surprised and delighted by what they discover.
“With news that the £1bn Omega project is to be restarted, Warrington will need to find more quality accommodation to impress business visitors, incoming talent and potential investors. We’re expecting to help bridge that gap with Gulliver’s Hotel and to continue to make a significant contribution to the success of the local economy.”
The 56-room Gulliver’s Hotel is positioned outside the theme park within a quiet parkland oasis. Its construction created more than 60 jobs and another 25 jobs since its completion. More than 140 British suppliers and contractors were used to create the new hotel – 90 within a 60-mile radius of Warrington.
It has excellent business facilities with two executive meeting rooms, free WiFi, free parking, vehicle CCTV, desk space in every room, air conditioning, bar, on-site restaurant, guests are free to order in takeaways, specially designed beds, and a competitive room rate that includes breakfast.
The hotel is located in Old Hall, less than three miles from junction eight and junction nine of the M62, and just over three miles from Omega on the former Burtonwood airbase site.
