Town ignored on jobs, says MP

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones claims the town is being “ignored” by a special Government fund aimed at boosting jobs.
She is calling for more support after revelations that no jobs and no funding have been given to Warrington by the Regional Growth Fund.
She said the fund was “trumpeted by the Government” as one of its main ways of getting the economy moving again after a double-dip recession.
But Warrington was being ignored, she claimed.
Ms Jones (pictured) said: “By abolishing the North West Regional Development Agency, which was based in Warrington, and failing to develop a real plan for growth and jobs, the Government is letting Warrington down.
“I meet with local businesses all the time who are crying out for support to help them to grow and create new jobs. It’s about time that the Government stopped ignoring Warrington.”
Ms Jones received confirmation that no jobs had been created in Warrington through the fund in answer to a Parliamentary Question from Michael Fallon MP, Minister of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
