Online auction after store folds

AN online auction has been launched in a bid to dispose of remaining stock from a Warrington furniture store which has gone in administration.
Members of the public have until 10am on Thursday, October 18 to bid in the auction.
J Harris and Sons Ltd was a long established business family which had operated in Warrington for almost a century. Latterly it had traded as Andrew Harris Furniture in Warrington and also as Mr Bedds in Altrincham.
Anyone wanting to bid in the auction should visit www.eddisons.com/online
Joint administrator Kerry Bailey: “Efforts were made by management over the last few months to turn the business around but the retail market is incredibly difficult, particularly for furniture, and they could not generate the volume to keep the company afloat. It’s desperately sad for everyone involved but, unfortunately, it’s far from unique.
“The auction comprises over 600 lots and includes a wide range of household furniture – everything from lamps, cabinets and mirrors to beds, tables and sofas. Proceeds will be used to repay creditors.”
Customers who paid for goods or left deposits at either Andrew Harris Furniture or Mr Bedds and have not received them are advised to email [email protected] as soon as possible.

  1. WBC....oh dear, another cockup! on

The primary creditors who will benefit will be the banks and the government via the HMRC VAT people if the company owes them any money as these are classed as primary creditors and are always paid off first. The “ordinary” businsesses who used to supply Andrew Harris will be at the bottom of the pile and the last to get anything.
