A WARRINGTON businessman completed an Ironman Triathlon in Tenby, South Wales, and has raised more than £3,000 for the Red Cross.
Corporate financier James Dow, who lives in Appleton, fulfilled a long held ambition when he completed the challenge – and reached his fundraising target with money still coming in.
The course included a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon. Contestants were given 17 hours to complete the course and Ironman James managed to finish in less than 12 hours.
His funds will be donated to the British Red Cross Medical Loan Service in Cheshire, where his wife Beverley works as service co-ordinator.

Jackie Pickersgill, community fundraiser at the Red Cross, said: “I am so impressed at how much effort James put in to raise money for the Red Cross.
“We are always looking for willing and enthusiastic fundraisers like James and we will support them every step of the way to make sure they are able to raise as much money and have as much fun as possible.”
After the event James said: “Well I did it. It’s a very long way! My time was 11 hours 48 minutes and 47 seconds, which was 1 minute 49 seconds slower than my target.
“My best excuse so far for missing the target was I forgot my watch was three minutes slow.”
