Let's go hiking for charity

A 55-year-old Warrington woman is encouraging people in the town to take part in this year’s NSPCC hiking challenge – the Buxton High Peak HACK.
Carole Bardi took part in the event in 2010 – which that year was a 26 mile route in North Wales.
She enjoyed it so much and was so inspired by other people she met on the hike that she wants other locals to get involved this year.
The Buxton HACK (Hike Against Cruelty to Kids) will be a circular route of about 24 miles.
Carole (pictured) said: “I have always done some running, but was really interested in taking on a new challenge of trekking over 20 miles.
“I signed up on my own, but met some fantastic and inspirational people along the route and managed to raise over £500 for the NSPCC.
“I would recommend people signing up for the HACK as the events are amazing, and the spirit of the walkers and the volunteers on the day really gives you a boost.
“Also, the all round support I received from my sponsors really gave me the determination to continue to complete as many challenges as I can and raise as much money as possible for the NSPCC until such a time in my life when I can devote more hours a week to help in other ways.
“The NSPCC is very close to my heart as my Mum, Cecilia Worrall, has devoted over 25 years, tirelessly working for the NSPCC on Anglesey, fundraising, even dressing up as Noddy (with my Aunt as Big Ears) to collect money on the streets of Holyhead.
“Mum has held the post of secretary, chairperson and has sat on the executive committee. She is a true inspiration and her hard and selflessness work has inspired me to be a part of the NSPCC and do what ever I can to support this amazing charity.”
The HACK is open to people aged 18 years and over. The registration fee is £20. For further details and registrations please contact the NSPCC Fundraising office Tel: 0113 2182728 or email [email protected]
