It's Walking Day again!

UPWARDS of 3,000 walkers, accompanied with up to 10 marching bands, are expected to take part in what is believed to be the 178th Warrington Walking Day tomorrow (Friday)
Road closures in the town centre will start from around 7.30am, with no traffic allowed into the central area until after 1pm.
The Walk will start from the Town Hall at 10.30am, when the Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Steve Wright will take the salute from a raised dais in front of the Golden Gates.
But many churches, schools and other organisations will be onthe move earlier, walking in procession to the town centre to congregate on the Town Hall lawn.
The procession will be headed as usual by a contingent from Warrington Parish Church and St John’s Mission Church, followed by St Mary’s RC Church.
Other churches and groups taking part include the Salvation Army, Elmwood Avenue Church, St John’s United Reformed Church, Our Lady’s, St Augustine’s Church, Latchford Methodist Church, Christ Church, Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, St James Church, Latchford Baptist Church, St Benedict’s Church, Buckley Street Methodist Church, Friars Green Independent Methodists, Bold Street Methodist Church, Holy Trinity Church, Warrington Baptist Church, Wycliffe United Reformed Church, Youth for Christ, Society of Friends, St Andrew’s Church, St Stephen’s Church, St Barnabas’ Church, Workingmen’s Mission, Sacred Heart Church, St Alban’s Church and St Anselm’s Church.
Town Hall chiefs say motorists will be able to access the Market multi story car park until 9am via Dial Street, Buttermarket Street and Mersey Street while the Golden Square multi-storey will be accessible via Midland Way at all times.
There will be an outer ring road around the town centre on the following roads:
A49 Mersey Street, A49 Fennel Street, A49 Brick Street, A57 Midland Way, A57 Froghall Lane, A57 Priestley Street, A5061 Sankey Way, A5061 Liverpool Road, A5061 Parker Street, A5061 Wilson Patten Street, and the A5061 Bridge Foot.
Four parade routes into the town centre will be closed from 9am and may cause disruption to motorists:
They involve Church Street, Knutsford Road, Orford Lane/Pinners Brow/Tanners Lane/Bewsey Street/Legh Street and Liverpool Road.
Businesses expecting deliveries are being asked to make alternative arrangements if possible.
