New partnership to help young people

WARRINGTON Wolves Foundation, together with YMCA Training and the Wooden Spoon Children’s Charity, have teamed up to launch TRY HARD Warrington, a new community programme which will kick start young people in need into full-time work or education.
TRY HARD Warrington is a progressive, high profile programme delivered by the Stobart Super League club Warrington Wolves, YMCA Training and the Wooden Spoon Children’s Charity.
The TRY HARD programme targets young people at risk of exclusion and anti-social behaviour, introducing them – often for the first time – to touch and contact rugby league. TRY HARD Warrington provides participants with the opportunity to access personal and social development programmes, educational support, vocational training programmes and workforce development Apprenticeships and volunteering opportunities.
The programme is funded by the Goodman Foundation, which provides meaningful, long-term support to not-for-profit organisations. With their assistance, these organisations help facilitate social change by providing long term help and financial donations to improve the well-being of communities for future generations.
TRY HARD Warrington’s delivery team, along with Neil Kelly the Director at The Warrington Wolves Foundation are aiming to recruit at least 120 young people onto this unique education and training programme. Although the ultimate goal is helping participants – aged between 16 and 19 – into full-time work or education, TRY HARD Warrington is also about developing talents and life skills so that young people can contribute to society in whatever they choose to do in the future.
YMCA Training has a strong presence in Warrington and are pleased to be working in partnership with Wooden Spoon and Warrington Wolves on the TRY HARD programme.
This is the first Rugby League club that Wooden Spoon has partnered with to launch one of its successful community programmes, but it is planned, through help from The Rugby Football League Foundation, that similar projects will be rolled out to more Stobart Super League clubs in the near future.
TRY HARD Warrington Ambassador Adrian Morley said; “The Rugby League family has long looked after its own and TRY HARD Warrington is another great example of this. By working together with Wooden Spoon, YMCA Training and the Goodman Foundation, the Wolves Foundation will provide a real opportunity for young people from Warrington to find work or a route back into education. I am very proud to be representing the club on this project and can’t wait to see what the TRY HARD team can achieve.”
