WARRINGTON’S Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) has signed up to a youth charter.
Chairman Roy Smith (pictured) carried out the signing at a special celebration event organised by GGHT at Orford Park.
The Charter, or “Youth Vow”, was developed by Young Voices of Warrington (YVow), a panel of young people aged between 10 and 18 from across the town.
The panel was developed by GGHT with support from Participation Through Sport (PTS), to help the Trust find out more about the views of young people living in Warrington.
The Trust has made a commitment to work in partnership with young people to create neighbourhoods where people want to live. This will include supporting and assisting the panel in securing funding to help develop new ideas and create learning opportunities.
Mr Smith said: “It was great to meet the young people on the panel and to see their enthusiasm as they presented back their projects. As a Trust we feel that it is really important that young people have a voice as they know what is important to them and often can provide the best solutions to problems in their local area. I was delighted to have had the opportunity to sign the Charter on behalf of GGHT and look forward to working with the young people in the future.”
