GRAPPENHALL’S amazing winning streak continued in the Chapel Press Cheshire County League with a 50-run victory at Cheadle Hulme.
Seven games played, seven won – in a season when most clubs have at least lost to the weather!
But Grappers got off to a shakey start at Cheadle Hulme and only a late 75 not out by skipper Liam Parkinson, backed up by 24 from Daniel Hawke, enabled them to reach the relatively respectable total of 199-9.
Cheadle Hulme, by contrast, started well but then collapsed to 149 all out to the bowling of Hawke, 3-31, Gaz Burns, 3-19 and Jason Smith, 4-39.
Grappenhall 2nd amassed 286-2 against Didsbury at Broad Lane. Openers Paul Radage and Mike Sambell hit 95 and 74 respectively, Richard Holden 42 not out and Andy Tetlow 54 not out.
Faced with such a daunting target, the visitors were dismissed for 140, Andrew Hards taking 3-32, Jack Critchley 2-23 and Matt Titchard 4-36.
Warrington hung on for a draw against Middlewich at Walton Lea.
They restricted the visitors to 129-8, Kyle Adams taking 3-28 and Tom Poole 5-63.
Paul Farrar’s 47 was the highlight of Warrington’s reply which finished on 117-9, with Adams undefeated on 24.
Warrington 2nd went down by 10-wickets at Middlewich after batting first and totalling 164-8. Ian Sleigh top scored with 41. The home side raced to 166-0.
After dismissing visiting Oxton for 131 – James Waldron 5-23, Jan Derek Stoker 2-9 and Wesley Charlton 2-45, Warrington 3rd earned an eight victory at Walton Lea.
William Gilbert hit 59 not out and Sam Houghton 41 as they cruised to 133-2.
In the Meller Braggins League, Lymm Oughtrington Park suffered a nine wicket defeat at the hands of Bredbury St Marks.
Lymm were tumbled out for 65 and Bredbury replied with 66-1.
Stretton snatched a three-run victory from Barrow after batting first and totalling 111.
J Wells hit 52 and J Mir 28. Barrow were dismissed for 108, A Ashraf taking 4-35.
Glazebury went down by 95 runs at home against Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge.
The visitors batted first and reached 179-5, with Rhys Marsh, 4-56, the pick of the Glazebury bowlers. Then Glazebury slumped to 84 all out, Jack Warhurst top scoring with 21.
Glazebury 2nd were dismissed for 139 at Aston, Patrick Hutchinson proving the mainstay of their batting with 50 and Alex McArthur offering good support with 29.
Aston coasted to 141-2, both wickets being taken by Chris Ayre, at a cost of 28 runs.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Rylands inflicted a heavy defeat on Stalybridge St Pauls.
Batting first, Rylands hit 203, G Rowlands hitting 54 and P osment 41. St Pauls were dismissed for 112, Adam Peters taking 5-52, Richard Buck 3-19 and Ross Arrowsmith 2-33.
Appleton’s run of poor form continued at Saughall despite Lee Stoll hitting 66 not out, Richard Clarke 23 and Will Ralston 29 in their 171-9.
The home side replied with 172-5, Danny Oliver taking 2-46.
