LOCAL bus company Network Warrington has chosen the Warrington Disability Partnership as its’ first charity of the year and marked the occasion by donating a cheque for £5,000.
David Squire, Managing Director commented, “In our 110th anniversary year, we thought it particularly appropriate to pick the Warrington Disability Partnership as our first ever charity of the year.
“We have supported the WDP over a number of years, through initiatives such as a bus in a special livery and by operating the free shuttle bus to the Disability Awareness Day at Walton Hall.
“This year is their 21st anniversary, which is a truly remarkable achievement, and we are pleased to show our on-going support by naming them as our Charity of the Year and awarding them a grant of £5000”.
Dave Thompson MBE DL, founder and chairman of the WDP was invited to the Company’s Birthday celebration and staff recognition evening, held at the Park Royal Hotel, where he was presented with the cheque.
He commented, “It is a real honour for us to have been chosen as Network Warrington’s first Charity of the Year. We have had a very positive and longstanding relationship with them stemming back to the early 1990’s. We are very proud of the special liveried bus that carries our logo and contact details, which has helped to raise our profile”.
