Residents' blitz on litter

RESIDENTS from a wide area of Warrington joined forces in a blitz on litter.
People living in Hood Manor, Westbrook and Great Sankey, working under the banner “Clean up my Community – Warrington” collected more than 60 bags of litter and waste in just two hours.
Nearly 30 volunteers, led by Westbrook resident David Parr and including residents, church groups and local councillors were joined by a team from Keep Britain Tidy, who provided tools, bags and local support.
On April 21, the team will be out again, supporting Sankey Bridges Residents Association to clear up the heavily littered Sankey Valley Park.
They will be targeting the area North and South of Sankey Way, adjacent to St Gregory’s High School and Old Liverpool Road.
Anyone who wants to help should meet at 10am in the small car park off Cromwell Avenue, opposite the David Lloyd Centre. Litter picking tools and bags will be provided but volunteers are asked to take their own gloves.
