FUNDRAISING staff at a local children’s charity were given a rare treat – thanks to the generosity of the winners of an auction at the charity’s annual ball.
Jason and Catherine Manford, patrons of charity group The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), paid £2,000 to win a gourmet dinner for 10 people in the auction – and then donated their prize the charity’s fundraisers.
The meal was provided by top chef Aiden Byrne, of the Church Green, Lymm.
Fundraiser Helen Crowther, one of the lucky diners, said: “We were absolutely bowled over by Jason and Catherine’s generosity at the Ball. They paid £2,000 for the prize which was extremely popular during the auction. For them to then hand it over to us to enjoy is just amazing and so generous.
“The staff and volunteers had all worked so hard at the Ball and it is lovely for Jason and Catherine to recognise this and give us a reward.”
Aiden said: “It was great to be able to cook for people who work so hard to enable children across the North West get the holiday that they so desperately need. We’re really happy to be able to support this great cause in a way that we know best, cooking! I would urge other businesses in the area do the same, it’s very rewarding.”
