Care home to stay open

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has welcomed confirmation from Warrington Borough Council that Woodleigh Community Care Home in Callands is to remain open.
Residents and their families had been concerned about rumours the care home could be closed or that services may be changed to be delivered by the private sector. Warrington Borough Council confirmed in a meeting with residents’ families last week that the care home will be kept open and the Council will continue to provide services.
The MP said: “I am pleased that sense has prevailed and Woodleigh will remain open and be run by the Council.
“I have been contacted by families of residents who were understandably very concerned about rumours about the future of the care home. Thankfully, residents and their families can be confident that the home will continue to deliver the care they need.
“Council officers should learn from this episode and be more open about their plans in future. A lot of anxiety and stress for families and residents could have been avoided had the Council been upfront in the first place.”
