LIBERAL Democrats at Warrington have announced their candidates for three wards in the borough council elections in May.
Former councillor Judith Wheeler will stand in Bewsey and Whitecross. Until last May she was a borough councillor for seven years representing Whittle Hall.
She is a qualified mental health nurse and now works with dementia patients in Warrington. She is a keen runner and completed her first full marathon last year.
Judith is keen to set up a Friends’ Group to look after Sankey Valley Park.
She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed being a councillor in Whittle Hall and Bewsey and Whitecross deserves someone who has a proven track record in making a community a cleaner and safer place to live and work. I am shocked at the amount of litter, dog fouling and fly tipping I see around.”
Soccer enthusiast Tim Price, 34, is standing in Penketh and Cuerdley.
He has a degree in business studies and works in the finance department at Warrington Hospital. Tim is a strong supporter and volunteer for Warrington Town Football Club as well as treasurer of Warrington Juniors Football Club.
He said: “I want to do my best to represent the people of Penketh. I am particularly keen to promote the work of volunteers and I feel strongly about the importance of keeping children fit and healthy.”
The Lib Dem candidate for Hatton, Stretton and Walton is Dave Hockenhull. He has lived in South Warrington for more than 30 years. He is qualified in building and civil engineering and has worked for various companies and in the past for Warrington Council as an engineer. Dave is married to Elizabeth and they have a grown up son and daughter and four grandchildren.
He is a member of Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council and chairs the Planning Committee.
Dave said: “I have never thought of myself as especially political but the more involvement I have had with the Liberal Democrats, the more I feel at ease because I find the party tolerant and open minded and not enslaved by political dogma.”
