FIRE crews were called out to rescue people trapped in cars stuck in floodwaters at Lymm and Grappenhall.
At 04:39 this morning (Wednesday) one fire engine and a technical rescue unit from Lymm, was called out to Booths Lane at Lymm.
Firefighters used a raft to rescue three occupants of a car stuck in floodwater.
In another incident at 07:21 one fire engine from Greater Manchester and a rescue boat from Warrington were called to Collins Green Lane, Warrington.
Firefighters rescued a person trapped in a car which had become stranded by floodwater.
Earlier at 23:44 last night (Tuesday) three fire engines; from Lymm, Warrington and Birchwood, plus a rescue boat were called out to Cliff Lane, Grappenhall.
Firefighters were called to reports of a car stuck by floodwater on Cliff Lane, with people inside the vehicle.
Crews used a raft to access the vehicle, release the three occupants and bring them to safety.
Various roads across Warrington remain impassable following the heavy rain, including the usual hotspots like Hawleys Lane at Dallam.
A number of roads are also flooded in the Winwick area of town.
Local Cllr Stuart Mann took to social media to issue the following warning.
He posted
: “After an incredible amount of rain last night please avoid the following roads.
Hollins Lane ❌ impassable.
Green Lane. ❌ impassable
Myddleton lane just over the bridge ⚠️ passable with care
Southworth lane ⚠️ passable with care.
Delph lane North ⚠️ passable with care
Golborne Road as you leave the village ⚠️ passable with care.”
