Council joins in shared adoption service

WARRINGTON has joined forces with two neighbouring councils to launch a shared adoption service – the first of its kind in the country.
WWISH (Warrington, Wigan and St Helens) Adoption Service will launch next month and provide a single, dedicated team working across all three local authority areas.
The innovative new service seeks to widen the choice for local people seeking to adopt children and speed up an often lengthy process.
There are currently 56 children waiting to find new families across Warrington, Wigan and St Helens.
To mark the start of this new way of working there will be a launch event at Wigan on Monday 5 when councillors and senior officers from each of the three councils will be present.
