A WARRINGTON football club has received a £300 boost from a housebuilder

David Wilson Homes North West has made the donation to Matthiola Football Club as part of its ongoing support for grassroots soccer in Cheshire.
The club takes its name from a flower which grows around its pitch in Stocks Lane, Penketh. It was formed in 1996 as a single team by Eunice Peters. Now, it boasts a wide range of teams covering from ages six and under all the way through to an open-ended senior team.
A club fundraiser earlier this month was the first of its kind, with the ultimate aim to generate funding for the purchase of new equipment and upgrading facilities for all of the teams involved.

Nicola Deakin, welfare officer and fundraising chair at Matthiola FC, said: “It is great to have received support from David Wilson Homes. As we are a completely non-profit club, all club coaches, helpers and committee members do this voluntarily, which allows us to ensure that all funding we receive is used to support the 350 players we currently have.
“It’s important to clubs like us to get support from large businesses and organisations, and we are very grateful for David Wilson Homes for its donation to our club.”
The fundraiser was well-attended as local residents showed their support and help to ensure the club can keep providing an excellent service to the community.
Claire Jarvis, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We are delighted to have made this donation to Matthiola Football Club so that it can continue its great work with the local community.

“We are committed to creating a positive impact on the surrounding areas in which we build and are pleased to have been able to help the club continue to provide local residents with a chance to train and play football in a safe and fun environment.
“Matthiola FC is certainly headed in the right direction and has come a long way in developing the teams and facilities, and we are very excited to see how the club fares in the coming years.”
