WARRINGTON is one of the luckiest places to live in the UK for winning on the National Lottery producing 82 jackpot winners ovet the past 17 years.
With a further 326 residents banking a prize of £50K or more, Warrington features in the top ten luckiest postcodes based on 17 years of lottery windfalls.
For the first time, the stats have been calculated to include all National Lottery prizes over £50K – not just jackpot wins – and show that it’s not just famous Warringtonians Chris Evans and record producer Pete Waterman who have had a lucky break over the years. Amazingly one in 1,428 of adults in Warrington have now pocketed a prize over £50,000 since The National Lottery began in 1994 and residents have taken home over £159 million in big prizes to date.
Liverpool also features in the top ten luckiest postcodes helping to make the North West region one of the luckiest in the UK. One in 1,425 adults in Liverpool have banked a lottery prize of over £50,000, amounting to more than £266 million in major prizes for the residents.
Romford in Essex tops the poll of luckiest postcodes in the UK, where one in 1,238 residents have taken home a major prize. The town is followed by the London Borough of Enfield and Dartford in Kent.
The statistics, which include both publicity and non-publicity winners, maps out the top 20 lucky hotspots based on the highest number of major prizes (over £50K) won per adult playing population since the National Lottery began in November 1994.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “This is the first time we have included prizes of £50,000 upwards, giving a true snapshot of where the luckiest players are based. Warrington hasn’t previously featured in the top ten lucky lottery league table however it’s now clear that its residents have been quietly scooping major prizes all round!”
