Council Tax set to be frozen

COUNCIL Tax payers at Warrington look likely to be paying the same again next year – provided the police and fire authorities do not increase their precepts.
That means an average Band D householder in an unparished area will have to pay £1,347.60.
Householders in parished areas will have to pay an additional precept, varying from parish to parish. But most have either not increased their precept or, in some cases, reduced them.
Members of the council’s executive board will study a report by Cllor Peter Carey, executive member for corporate resources (pictured) on Monday and be asked to approve net expenditure for the coming year of £152.992 million, net of an indicative Dedicated Schools Grant of £140.376 million, requiring a Band D council tax of £1,136.64.
The full council will be asked to approve the final council tax level, including the police and fire precepts, at its meeting on March 5.
If council tax remains frozen, Warrington will receive a one-off grant of £2.004m from the Government – the equivalent of a 2.5 per cent increase in council tax.
Anticipated Band D council tax levels across the borough are expected to be: Warrington (unparished areas): £1,347.60; Appleton: £1,364.60; Birchwood: £1,439.08; Burtonwood and Westbrook: £1,368.78; Croft: £1,417.20; Cuerdley: £1,366.84; Culcheth and Glazebury: £1,364.42; Grappenhall and Thelwall: £1,382.09; Great Sankey: £1,367.60; Hatton: £1,360.67; Lymm: £1,373.13; Penketh: £1,408.89; Poulton-with-Fearnhead: £1,365.88; Rixton-with-Glazebrook: £1,379.80; Stockton Heath: £1,373,60; Stretton: £1,368.60; Walton: £1,358.28; Winwick: £1,387.32; Woolston: £1,355.08.
