Historic Thelwall spans the centuries – but you need planning permission to walk the dog!

HISTORIC Thelwall dates back to prehistoric times and has a remarkable variety of architectural styles spanning several centuries. But you could need planning permission to walk the dog.

It has a conservation area boasting remarkable landscapes and natural assets and is a place of immense historical, architectural, cultural, and natural value.
Its buildings, landscapes, and social fabric weave together a rich tapestry that tells the story of the village’s past and present.
So argued architects supporting an application for planning permission to change the use of an unused field off Lymm Road to a dog walking area.
The proposal would significantly improve the well-being of local residents and visitors, offering a safe and controlled environment for dogs to exercise, socialise and play, promoting their physical and mental health

It would also provide a dedicated space for dog walking, alleviating potential conflict with other users of the conservation area, such as families with young children or people seeking tranquillity.
But borough council officers, after considering the proposals, refused the applications on the grounds the proposed parking area would result in encroachment of built development into the open countryside representing inappropriate development in the Green Belt.
There were no objections from local residents nor from Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council.
