Late penalty earns Yellows a point at Chorley

WARRINGTON Town left it late to seal a point in Paul Carden’s first game back as manager away at high-flying Chorley.

Connor Woods stepped up in the eighth minute of injury time to blast home a penalty after Josh Amis, making his first appearance of the season, was dragged down in the box.

The Magpies had led midway through the second half through a Yellows error, Craig Hewitt pouncing on a loose back pass and slamming in to the empty net.

That goal came barely minutes after Joe Nolan had been sent off for a second bookable offence following a foul on Joe Rodwell-Grant.

The draw extends Carden’s unbeaten run as Warrington Town manager, dating back to his previous spell, to 10 games.

The Yellows are next in action next Saturday at Radcliffe.
