Lymm residents put local development on agenda

LYMM residents are putting local development on the agenda at three special meetings to present the village’s draft Neighbourhood Plan.

Heritage, housing, design, tourism, transport and wildlife are all areas included in Lymm’s draft Neighbourhood Plan.

A small team of dedicated residents joined a working group, set up by Lymm Parish Council. It has been in operation since 2017 specifically to draft a Neighbourhood Plan for Lymm. Holding public consultations in 2018 and meeting throughout the pandemic, the working group has been busy behind the scenes researching and writing a draft plan.

Lymm residents are now invited to sign up to attend one of three presentations at Lymm village hall to find out more about the current plan and the next steps. Each session will comprise a short and informative presentation, access to printed materials, and the opportunity to meet and chat to a ‘panel’ who will endeavour to answer, or find the answers to questions. Spaces are limited so residents are urged to book a free place.

The Neighbourhood Plan is a grassroots, community-led way for residents to influence planning and development in their local area. Sitting alongside Warrington Borough Council’s recently adopted Local Plan and the National Planning Policy Framework, the Neighbourhood Plan will be the third and most local layer of planning policy that all planning applications will need to follow. By creating a Neighbourhood Plan, Lymm residents can seek to protect and enhance the village’s unique character, work to ensure that new development is appropriate, and prioritise the needs of the community. Residents are invited to come and see how the Plan can make a real difference to the place we call home.
