DEPARTMENT store TJ Hughes is making a return to Warrington’s high street in the former Debenhams unit at Golden Square Shopping Centre.
The popular discount department store which closed its doors following administration in 2011, is set to open in Golden Square Shopping Centre and is due to open before the end of October, which means Warrington’s Christmas shopping options just got even better, with even more new announcements set to come.
It follows a decision to close its Widnes store after being unable to agree a new lease.
Meanwhile the team at Golden Square are excited about the latest addition to the centre, with Centre Director, Ian Cox saying: “We’re excited to see the Golden Square thriving right now – over the last few months we have had 4 huge retailers join the shopping centre. Plus we’ve got even more to come before the year is out, so keep your eyes peeled for more announcements”.
Jason Harmer, COO of TJ Hughes, expressed his enthusiasm for the move: “This represents an important step for us. Warrington is a fantastic location, convenient for many shoppers, and we believe this will be good for the town and for our brand.”
“Returning to Warrington, where we have a strong history, is something we’re really excited about. We’ll be recruiting 25 staff for the new store, and this move is part of the broader growth of the TJ Hughes estate.”
Offering a wide selection of products, including clothing, home appliances, and garden items, TJ Hughes will once again provide local customers with access to affordable quality goods. The retailer’s return highlights the continued appeal of Golden Square Shopping Centre, which continues to attract top brands and maintain a strong retail presence in the town.
Hot on the heels of 3 new retailers announced recently (Foot Asylum, B&M and Kenji Superstore), the centre has also confirmed a deal for the high end retailer “The Lingerie Room” who will also be opening in the next few weeks.
The former TJ Hughes store based in the old Coop building on Sankey Street closed in 2011 following administration and is now the site of The Hive shopping arcade and offices.
