Music in contrasting styles

MUSIC in contrasting styles will come together at a concert entitled “Variations on America” at Warrington’s Pyramid Arts Centre on Saturday, February 4.
Taking the stage will be the North Cheshire Wind Orchestra, conducted by Yibin Seow and Dr Jass and the Cheshire Cats big band, conducted by Matt Shaw
The wind orchesta’s programme will include Variations on America, by Charles Ives, A Solemn Music by Virgil Thompson and Symphonic Songs for Band, by Robert Russell Bennett.
Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats will include Bill Reddie’s arrangement of West Side Story for the Buddy Rich band, and Bob Mintzer arrangements of Vernon Duke’s April in Paris and Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Lady.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and there will be a pre-concert talk at 6.50pm.
