Latchford Albion head coach Martin Ellis to resign

LATCHFORD Albion head coach Martyn Ellis has made the decision to resign from his role upon the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Martyn has been at the helm since 2018 and has led Albion to one if its most successful periods, including winning the league leaders title in 2021, as well as establishing the side as a competitive team in the NWML Premier division, with his integration of the club’s Junior players becoming a pivotal part of the present, and future of the club.
Due to this success, Martyn has been in high demand, working within the England Community Lions set up, taking the role of Under16’s head coach this season, as well as working alongside other age groups.
With Martyn living in Wigan, working full-time and having England commitments it has proved difficult to offer the attention to detail Martyn demands, and he feels now is the right time to step down with the club in a great position both on and off the field.

He said: “ When the opportunity arose to coach Latchford, I was unsure if I wanted to coach full stop, but the club has given me a fresh lease of life. I have made friendships for life and am so proud of the achievements we have made as a club from where it was when I joined, to where it stands today.
“I would like to thank all the players, staff, committee and supporters who have all played a massive part in this journey. I wish nothing but the best for Latchford for the future, and look forward to attending fixtures where possible next season. “
