Champions Warrington emphasise the point with a massacre

WARRINGTON knew they were division one champions in the Cheshire Cricket League last week – but to emphasise the point they massacred Old Parkonians in their final game.

Parkonians were tumbled out for an embarrassing 14 – with Ashley Scholas taking 6-6 and A Ali 3-7.
All that was left for Warrington to do was stroll out to the wickets and do better – which they did, without losing a wicket.
The demoralised opposition could not stop them hitting 18-0 in a couple of overs.
Warrington’s season has, on the whole, shown up the gulf that exists between the Cheshire County League and the Cheshire League.
Fielding largely the same team, Warrington bounced back to the County League from which they had been relegated last year.
Lymm Oughtrington Park won promotion to the Cheshire League first division with a two-wicket win over Westminster Park, who batted first and were dismissed for a modest 79.
Anthony Spaven took 4-33, Antonneli Atwell 3-22 and K Megharaj 3-9.
Lymm did not find runs easy to get but claimed victory with 80-8.
They finished their season runners-up in division two so will move up to Division One.
Appleton were relegated from Division Two after finishing four points behind Trafford Metrovics, who they played in their final match.
They batted first and reached 106-9, mainly due to a defiant 44 not out by Oliver Cross. Metrovics strolled to 109-2.
Glazebury ended their season going down by eight wickets to Heaton Mersey Village, who hit 109-2 in reply to Glazebury’s 105 all out.
As reported last week, Grappenhall were relegated from the Cheshire County League ECB Premier division so will play in division one next year.
