THE M62 near Warrington has re-opened following a four-car pile-up this morning.
The motorway was closed after the crash, which resulted in a man and a woman being taken to Warrington Hospital for treatment.
Police advised motorists to avoid the area – but now say the motorway is again open.
There were long tailbacks on the motorway and heavy congestion on other roads in the Warrington area and on the M6.
An air ambulance was sent to the scene to ferry casualties to the scene.
The condition of the injured people is not known, although the woman is understood to have arm injuries.
