Investigation underway after casualty taken to hospital following Folly Lane flat fire

ONE casualty was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and burns following a flat fire on Folly Lane, Warrington, this afternoon.

An investigation is now underway following the fire in the ground-floor flat.

At 13:56 three fire engines from Penketh, Lymm and Birchwood attended at the scene following multiple calls about smoke issuing from the roof of a terraced property.

On arrival, crews found a fire in a ground floor flat and wearing breathing apparatus they used a hose reel water jet to extinguish it. A high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke. Neighbouring properties were checked with thermal imaging cameras to ensure the fire had not spread.

One casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and burns and taken to hospital by ambulance crews.
Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
