Hope 100 walk set to be the biggest yet

THE annual Hope 100 Walk in Warrington is set to take place on Sunday, September 8 – and with more than 200 people already signed up, looks like being the biggest yet.

Held to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, the free, 10-mile walk is an opportunity to unite people of all ages who have or may be still be struggling with the challenges of life.
The name Hope 100 is linked to the statistic that 1 in 100 deaths worldwide are due to suicide.
Organised by a collective of organisations, including Warrington Borough Council, Warrington Speak Up, Warrington Wolves Foundation, LiveWire, Directions for Men and the Armed Forces Community Hub, it is believed that through open conversations, active listening, asking questions, supporting people to access help, and challenging stigma around mental health, the event can make a
difference in Warrington.

The walk provides an opportunity to connect with people, have a conversation, share experiences, support one another or just to be silent and take time to reflect, knowing there is someone walking beside you.
There will be two starting points and two starting times for the walk:
Arrival at 2.45am – The Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, WA2 7NE (10 mile walk)
Arrival at 6.30am – Victoria Park, Knutsford Road, Warrington, WA4 1DJ (1.5 miles-accessible route)
Minimum age for walking solo is 18 – anyone aged between 12 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
The link to register is register.enthuse.com/ps/event/Hope100Walk2024 and you will be able to purchase a Hope 100 bobble hat (£10) or T-shirt (£12) when you sign-up. All proceeds go towards helping organise the event.
Volunteer Walk Leaders and Talk Leaders are wanted to help in the evening (full training will be offered) and anyone interested should email [email protected]
