Wildflowers are blooming in Lymm’s Ridgway Grundy Park

FOR the third year running, wildflowers are blooming in Lymm’s Ridgway Grundy Park thanks to an initiative by Lymm Parish Council.

And this year the council has expanded the scheme to other parts of the village including Rushgreen Road and Higher Lane, winning widespread praise from local residents.
The flowers provide a blaze of colour for villagers to admire and a hazen for beeds and numerous other insects.
As previously, the flowers have been planted by Warrington Borough Council, but the idea came from the parish council who also footed the bill.
This year the display in the park runs the full length of the football pitch. But this year it has been moved further from the playing area to leave more space for spectators – mainly parents watching local youngsters playing against visiting teams.

But, perhaps surprisingly, the display suffered very little damage from footballers or spectators in previous years so perhaps in future years it may prove possible to plant on both sides of the pathj which runs through the park, creating a colourful avenue for residents to walk through.
The additional planted areas in other parts of the village have been welcomed by people who do not use the park.
