WARRINGTON teenager Luke Littler collapsed to an 8-1 defeat in the final of the Australian Darts Masters at the weekend as Gerwyn Price powered to his second World Series of Darts title of the year.

Price, a Welsh former professional rugby player, took control from the start to build a 4-0 lead and Littler was unable to make any impression on the scoreboard until the sixth leg.

But it was only a temporary interruption from the 17-year-old from Warrington as Price took the next three legs to add the title to the Nordic Darts Masters he won in June.

“Luke is playing fantastic darts at the moment and that probably kicked me into gear,” Price said.

“I know I need to play well against every player, but especially against this young talent, so I was right up for this game.

“We can all hit nine, 10, 11, 12-darters, but the game is all about confidence, and this will give me the big confidence boost that I needed.”
