Wolves win in the capital

WARRINGTON Wolves survived a scare to defeat Super League basement boys London Broncos 36-22 in the capital.

The Wolves scored more than 100 points in two wins over the Broncos back in April, and appeared to be on their way to another routine win in the first half in Wimbledon.

Rodrick Tai, Matty Ashton, Paul Vaughan and Toby King all crossed for first half tries as they led 22-10 at the break.

But after Adam Holroyd had stretched the lead, London mounted a mini comeback through Sam Davis and Ugo Tison scores.

That reduced their lead to 28-22, and Josh Drinkwater needed to take a penalty to ease their nerves and restore a two score advantage.

London were reduced to 12 men for the final 10 minutes following a sin bin for Rhys Kennedy, and they put Warrington under some pressure, before Ashton poached his second interception try of the afternoon to make sure in the closing stages.

London: Rourke, Kershaw, Natoli, Bassett, Miloudi, Leyland, Campagnolo, Butler, S. Davis, Kennedy, Lovell, Adebiyi, Stock. Interchanges: Tison, Bienek, Jones, Parata.

Warrington: Dufty; Lindop, King, Tai, Ashton; Powell, Drinkwater; Harrison, Walker, Vaughan, Bateman, Holroyd, Crowther. Interchanges: Musgrove, Philbin, Wood, Taylor-Wray.
